Las Vegas: Race for the Rich

Las Vegas Launch Party

This past weekend Las Vegas Grand Prix organizers through a launch party in the middle of the city to celebrate the new addition of the race to the Formula 1 Calendar. The first race will be held in exactly one year and it will be the first ever night race in America. The launch party was extremely glamorous as it had car show offs with neon lights under the cars, an expensive drone show in the sky, and guest appearances by some of the most popular drivers Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Sergio Perez.

Track Layout and $$$$$$$$

The biggest characteristic about the track is that it will be one of the fastest tracks ever made, and the main straight will go along the famous Las Vegas Boulevard, besides all the mega hotels and well known casinos such as Caesar Palace, MGM, Wynn, Planet Hollywood and more.

With Las Vegas being such a popular destination, fans are unhappy with the prices the organizers have selected for the tickets, standing tickets start at $700, while seated tickets range from $,3000 to $12,000 depending on the area of the track. Some hotels like MGM even bought $20 million worth of tickets to sell packages during the weekend that go up to $150,000 per room. All the tickets sold within minutes of release, which shows how much interest Formula 1 has in America.

As far as the racing itself, the track seems pretty basic with a lot of 90 degree turns which may offer many overtakes if done correctly, although some drivers are not a fan of the design I don’t think this is going to probably be the most exciting one to drive. But for you guys watching I feel like this race is designed for good racing, for overtakes, good racing, entertainment. And I think the Sunday for us is going to be super-exciting. But to be honest, I don’t really care as long as we’re at the front “ said George Russell

My Opinion

I dont find the track layout particularly interesting, but just like the Monaco race in Europe, this will be all about showing off Las Vegas and its surroundings,, it will definitely be a race for the rich as I doubt true Formula 1 fans will be able or willing to pay such high prices.
