America Wins!
United States Grand Prix Summary
The United States Grand Prix brought a new record crowd attendance of more than 440,000 fans. It is the largest sporting event in American history.
The race was one by Max Verstappen as usual, but he had a lot of competition this time around with both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc on his toes for the whole length of the event. We also witness one of the biggest crashed in the history of the track, where Fernando Alonso was sent flying into the wall. Fortunately everyone is ok.
Logan Sargeant to drive for Williams
During the weekend American Driver Logan Sargeant drove for Williams during the Free Practice on Friday, he did this because teams are required to give young drivers and potential rookies opportunities to test the car at least twice a year. Logan also wore a Longhorn logo on his helmet, something the Austin crowd loved.Williams decided to give Logan the opportunity to test the car on his home race, and after he did it pretty well he was given a contract for the 2023 season as a full time driver, he only needs to finish above 7 in Formula 2 to earn his required points to race in Formula 1. Which he will likely do.
My opinion
It is great to see how many people in America are getting interested in Formula 1, the sport has been growing exponentially and having one of the most powerful countries heavily invested is a great thing for the sport, the fact that it is the first country to host three races per year in a long time shows the massive support Americans provide.
In my opinion Logan Sargeant will only add up to this fandom, Americans will now have a true American driver to root for and support. He will bring a lot of American sponsors and investors into the sport, which is only a good thing for Formula 1.
